There were some very deserving winners of our support worker awards this year!
Vicki scored the big title as the Support Worker of the Year:
Vicki has worked for Orion for nearly four years as a house supervisor. Over the past 12 months in particular, due to unforseen changes to residents and rosters, Vicki has shown great flexibility and enthusiasm in managing the changes that have occurred at the house she supervises. Vicki treats participants and staff with dignity and respect and cares greatly about her participants' quality of life. She is a great advocate for her participants. For example; Vicki has been the driving force in supporting one participant to reach her goals to be able to walk again. As a result, the participant has had surgery and is currently receiving rehabilitation to reach this goal. Vicki promotes independence and personal growth on a daily basis for all participants. In addition, she supports and mentors her fellow team members and creates a positive and fun work and home environment for participants and staff.

Yash works extremely well under pressure and respects the privacy and dignity of all participants. Yash will manage staff and liaise with his case manager in an effective and professional manner. Yash has shown great initiative in professional development. For example; Yash has sourced his own training to broaden his knowledge of the disability and mental health sectors.
